BRASTEMP SIDE-INVERSE

LAR | Staff Industrial Designer

In a market where French-Door refrigerators were only imported and therefore reached consumers at an extremely high cost, Brastemp identified an opportunity to leverage a newly designed platform to design LAR's first locally designed French-Door refrigerator, at a reasonable cost.

My role as the Industrial Design and Design project lead was to identify the semantics of a premium product experience and translate it into the new market hit, alongside a team of multidisciplinary designers.

The new platform was incredibly successful and created an entirely new market segment. Brastemp became the sole player in this new segment. Two years later, three of Brastemp's major competitors followed suit and developed a local solution to try to beat it, including Electrolux and Panasonic.

CONNECTIVITY

Back in 2013, the project was the company's second attempt at developing from scratch our own proprietary connected user experience.

DIGITAL MAGNETS - a feature proposal to test whether users would maintain existing, pre-technology habits, or develop new ones, given the ability.
